Sony DSR-400PK
DVCAM 2/3" 3CCD 4:3 Camcorder with 17x Zoom Lens
'Green-friendly' camcorder delivering
improved imaging performance for programme makers.
Sony camcorders like the DSR-570WSP and DSR-390P have already attracted a dedicated
following from programme makers looking for the best possible blend of
features, performance and value from the DVCAM format.
Today, these camcorders are the preferred choice for a variety of applications
all around the world, from video journalism and newsgathering to event
photography and much more.
Building on this success, Sony now announces the DSR-450WSP and DSR-400P DVCAM
camcorders.
The DSR-450WSP and DSR-400P continue this tradition, while significantly
improving imaging quality and overall usability thanks to its 2/3" Power
HAD EX CCD sensors and refined ergonomics.
It also demonstrates Sony's ongoing commitment to bring all new camera products
in line with its industry-leading Green Management programme.
The DSR-400PK is supplied with a Fujinon 17x zoom lens.
Superb image quality
The larger 2/3" type PowerHAD EX 3CCDs provide a dramatic improvement in
imaging - including higher sensitivity and reduced smear levels - compared with
1/2" CCD sensor models.
The lens is compatible with the conventional 2/3" cameras and camcorders
such as DXC-D50P and DSR-570WSP.
Built-in LCD Monitor
The enhanced imaging performance is complemented by a large fold-out 2.5"
colour LCD monitor screen that gives programme makers the opportunity to frame
and assess shots even in high or low angle shooting.
DVCAM & DV(SP) Recording
You can ensure the reliability with DVCAM recording, but in addition you can
switch the DSR-400P from DVCAM to DV recording mode to extend recording time up
to 276 minutes.
Rugged & Ergonomic Design
Based on years of Sony experience in camera ergonomics, the DSR-400P offers
high levels of mobility, comfort and balance.
The shoulder pad position is adjustable and viewfinder height is selectable
between two positions, while rear panel connectors are located well away from
the battery pack for quicker, easier cable connection.
For even greater comfort and convenience, 4 switches can be assigned to a
frequently used function.
Flexible Image Controls
The DSR-400P provides highly advanced image control features available only on
high-end studio cameras. These allow images to be recorded with maximum quality
and with an expanded palette of creative possibilities.
- TruEyeTM processing
- Triple Skin Tone Detail control
- Auto-Tracing White Balance (ATW) function
- Multi-matrix function
- Colour temperature control
Scene File Store on Memory StickTM
You can save various camera settings on a Memory Stick and quickly recall them
when necessary. In addition, when two or more camcorders are used for shooting,
the settings of the first camcorder can be copied to the others via the Memory
Stick making the colour matching easier.
New Mechanical Deck
The different mechanical deck is adopted on the DSR-400P compared with the
DSR-390P, while maintaining the compatibility of Standard and Mini cassettes
with no mechanical adaptors required.
With this new deck the performance of FF/REW time is drastically improved. In
addition, combined with the new mechanical chassis the mechanical sound when
tape is ejected is more quiet than the conventional camcorders.
2/3" Power HAD EX CCDs
The DSR-400P incorporates 2/3" type Power HAD EX CCD sensors (4:3 aspect
ratio).
It delivers high imaging quality performance such as high sensitivity (F11 at
2000 lx), high S/N ratio (63 dB) and low smear level (-140 dB).
2.5" Built-in LCD Panel
The retractable 2.5" colour LCD monitor can be tilt freely so that it can
help the shooting operation at high or low angle.
The LCD monitor displays camera picture with characters (like viewfinder),
camera picture without characters, or Time Code & Audio Level Meter on
black background.
Scene File Store on Memory Stick
The DSR-400P can save utp to 5 scene files in the camcorder memory and up to
100 scene files in the Memory Stick. The stored data in the Memory Stick can be
transferred to the camcorder memory or vice versa, so that the setting data can
be copied to ther other camcorders easily.
Assignable Buttons
There are 4 assignable buttons available, the two on the side panel and the
other two on the handle.
Each button can assign a function which frequently requires instant operation,
such as ATW or REC Start/Stop. For the two buttons on the handle, a slide cover
is equipped in order to avoid mis-operation.
Programmable Gain
The value of gain that is assigned to the setting of (H / M / L) of the Gain
switch can be preset from -3, 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 30 or 36 dB.
Electric CC Filter
With the wide-band white balance amplifier circuit, the electric CC filter
covers a wide range of colour temperature conditions without an optical CC
filter.
By having this function, users do not need to care the colour temperature
before activating auto white balance.
Auto-Tracing White Balance (ATW)
This function automatically traces the white balance, which constantly changes
as lighting conditions change. It is useful especially when there is no time to
manually adjust the white balance, or when shooting objects move between indoor
and outdoor locations.
Interval Recording (Time-lapse)
Using the Interval recording function, you can create time-lapse videos for
various specialized projects such as plant growth.
The interval time can be selected from 30 sec or 1 / 5 / 10 / 30 / 60 minutes,
and the recording duration time from 0.5 / 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 5 / 10 / 30 sec or 1 /
5 / 10 minutes.
High Power Video Light Connector
A video light connector (max. 50W) and control switch are provided. You can set
the switch to turn the light on and off automatically as you start and stop the
VTR.
InfoLithium Battery Compatible
The DSR-400P supports the information battery function. Using with BP-GL95/GL65
battery back, more precise and detailed information on remaining battery power
is displayed on the viewfinder.
